For the Facebook timeline, it's a part of the website now so it's not going anywhere anytime soon. The timeline seems much like a more stylized version of the wall, so there's not much of a surprise. From what other people said, the timeline is very confusing and unnecessary. At this point, it's hard to tell whether or not this technology will end up sticking around for a while or be another dud on Facebook. All technologies that were considered emerging in 2009 seem to still be emerging in 2012.
